Memorial Lutheran Church Stain Glass Windows — Part 5

9 January 2008

In this post, I will share information about the eight remaining openings of the Memorial Lutheran Church’s Chancel Window known as the Acts of Mercy.

Memorial Lutheran Church Chancel Window - Acts of Mercy

The remaining eight small openings contain symbols of the Acts of Christian Mercy (clockwise from the bottom): feeding the hungry (knife cutting loaf of bread), drink to the thirsty (pitcher pouring water), instructing the ignorant (open book), harboring the harborless (an open door), ransoming the captive (chain and manacles), visiting the sick (fruit and flowers), burying the dead (spade, pick and grave), and finally clothing the naked (coat).

Besides the chancel window at Memorial Lutheran church, there are eighteen nave windows. In the next series of posts, I will share information about these windows.
