Global Warming Cool Down?

21 March 2008

From FoxNews, the Thursday’s Grapevine details recent news on global warming.  Here is the excerpt:

Scientists say that 3,000 robots that are collecting global warming data from the earth’s oceans have sent a puzzling message. Readings from these instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past five years. But scientists say the bewildering part is that the years since 2003 have been some of the hottest on record.

One scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory says that 80 to 90-percent of global warming involves heating up ocean waters. So why are the oceans still relatively cool and — in some cases — even cooler than before?

It seems the scientists are not sure. Some say global warming may have taken a breather. Others suggest they don’t understand what the robots are telling them. Kevin Trenberth at the National Center for Atmospheric Research says, “I suspect that we’ll be able to put this together with a little bit more perspective and further analysis. But what this does is highlight some of the issues and send people back to the drawing board.”

As I have thought, it shows that this debate is really not over. As the sun runs our climate, we as human beings do not understand everything about it. So, Algore, we cannot take everything you say as gospel.  There much research to be done.  Debating of your facts must continue.  And, the scientists will continue to learn more about our climate as we debate.  So, game on.

Don’t Go Linking My Heart – Mary Katharine Ham

21 March 2008

Got to love Mary Katharine Ham. She has been a very busy gal. Returning from Isreal, and give us this treat of more political happenings. She posts in Don’t Go Linking My Heart more about the fall out from Obama’s Tuesday speech, Passport fiasco, and a Clinton event. Hmmm. This might explain the choice of video. Another classic video, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart by Sir Elton John and Kiki Dee.

Check her post out.

Update: 23 April 2008: New YouTube version of the song. Check it out here.
