Retail’s timing on this year’s holiday season

It seems every year the holiday season starts earlier and earlier. As I was walking today at the Castleton Mall in Indianapolis, Indiana, I noticed Christmas decorations were up. Last week, JCPenneys store in the mall had their decorations already up. Of course, many of the stores already had their initial Christmas products on the shelves. In fact, I remember last year that Harrod’s in London, England, had put their Christmas section up for display in August!

Well, Gary Varvel, the editorial cartoonists at the Indianapolis Star, had a new twist on the start of the holiday season. Check out his November 1, 2007 cartoon on the VarvBlog.

Great way of blending the holidays.
