Peggy Noonan @ OpinionJournal.com – Things Are Tough All Over

Peggy Noonan has a very interesting opinion piece at the OpionionJournal.com. Read it here.

Ms Noonan provides a comparison between former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatacher and Mrs Bill Clinton. She confirms what I think, Mrs Thatcher was and will always be the original iron lady and Mrs Bill Clinton will never be able to claim such a title in US.

Why? Well, Mrs Bill Clinton seems to play both sides of the political game. When unchallenged, she is a member of the boy’s club, but when it becomes difficult, she cries boo-hoo.

Ms Noonan provides an interesting insight towards the end of her column:

But I don’t think Mrs. Clinton is the exemplar of a generation, she is the exemplar of a quadrant within a generation, and it is the quadrant the rest of us of that generation do not like. They came from comfort and stability, visited poverty as part of a college program, fashionably disliked their country, and cultivated a bitterness that was wholly unearned.

This conclusion seems to confirm my impression of Mrs Bill Clinton. This only cements my opinion that I can not in my right mind vote for her in 2008. My reasons are not just because of her smugness and “I’m better than you” attitude, but her positions on the key issues that are completely 180 from where I stand.
