Memorial Lutheran Church Stain Glass Windows — Part 1

Over the Christmas holidays, I took the opportunity to take pictures of the stain glass windows at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa. This church was my original home congregation where I was confirmed as a Christian member. Having one of the best stain glass windows I have ever seen, I was glad that the church developed a pamphlet about the windows in the sanctuary. I will be sharing this information over several posts.

These windows in the church building keep us constantly in touch with eternal truths of our faith. We are literally surrounded with the strength and support we need to live our lives in Him. This is a place conducive for public worship, but inviting too for quiet meditation, reflection and prayer.

The chancel window is carried out in brilliantly colored pot-metal glass dalles, 7/8 inches thick, cut and chipped to the desired size and set in specially prepared concrete reinforced with the steel flat bars bent to fit the design.

In my next the post, I will share information about one of the lancets in the chancel window.
