Memorial Lutheran Church Stain Glass Windows — Part 3

In this post, I will share information about the left and right lower lancets of the Memorial Lutheran Church’s Chancel Window.

Memorial Lutheran Church Chancel Window - Left and Right Lower Lancets

Two Old Testament figures in the lower left lancet fore-shadow the coming of the Savior, Moses shown with the tablets of the Law and “horns” of light proceeding from his forehead, and Isaiah the prophet who foretold of the Messiah’s birth, identified by a saw symbolic of his reputed martyrdom. “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17).

The two figures in the lower right lancet symbolize the early Apostolic Church. They are Peter holding the crossed keys, and Paul with the sword of the Spirit, “Spiritus Gladius”.

In the next post, I will share information about the center left and right lancets.
