Final Day of NHL 2007-2008 Season

Well, today is the last day of the NHL 2007-2008 season. We will found out who will finish where in the NHL Conference Standings. What could happen today?

Here is a preview of four games impacting the playoffs today:

In the East, Pittsburgh is visiting Philadelphia. Pens win will give them the number one seed and to play the Flyers in the opening round. Flyers win will move them from the eighth seed to sixth seed, avoiding playing the Pens in the first round.  If the Pens lose, Montreal is the number one seed.  Is this game a possible first round series preview?

Another East battle pits New York Rangers against rival New Jersey. Rangers win will give them the number four seed and home ice against the Devils. Devils win will give them the number four seed and home ice advantage against the Rangers. This is a preview of their opening round series. New York area fans will have a treat this afternoon. Who wants the home ice advantage?

In the West, Dallas hosts San Jose. A win today will guarantee the Stars the fifth seed. A Stars loss and Avalanche home win against the Wild, will bring about a tie break scenario between these two teams. Winner of the tie breaker gets to play the defending champs, Anaheim. Who really wants to play the Ducks in the first round?

So, I hope you hockey fans can catch the playoff fever early as the last NHL games of the season are played.

Playoffs start this Wednesday.
