Tim Russert dead at 59

I learned this afternoon while driving for dinner tonight that long-time Meet the Press host and NBC Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert died apparently of a heart attack at age 59. He held the longest tenure of the NBC’s Meet the Press. He will definitely be missed. He was the best interviewer in news journalism with his hard nose questions.

IMHO, this is a big blow to NBC News. This will continue their downward spiral in news reporting.

Update 14 June 2008 10:59 AM ET:

Lot of tributes being reported around of the web.  Check some of them out:

Rush Limbaugh statement via his website:

Rush Limbaugh Statement on Tim Russert’s Death: “It’s just a shame. Tim was a regular guy with that perpetual smile he wore naturally all the time. He loved life and got everything he could out of it. Whether it was at dinner here in Florida while his son was taking golf lessons, or on the set of Meet The Press, Tim was always the same with me: genuine. He never condescended to anyone and was the consummate professional. He will be hard to replace. He was the closest thing there was at any of the networks to an objective journalist.”
