Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on winning the 2015 Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks defeated Tampa Bay Lightning last night in Game 6 of the series, 2-0 and winning the series 4-2. It is the third championship for the Hawks in the last 6 years. It is the first time in 77 years that the Hawks won the Cup on home ice. Congratulations to Duncan Keith on winning the Conn Symthe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs. It was the ninth time a defenseman won it.
Looking forward for a repeat performance in 2016.
Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on winning the Campbell Bowl as the NHL Western Conference last night by defeating Anaheim Ducks in best of seven, 4-3. The Hawks will play the Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday in Tampa. It will be their third appearance in the last 6 years. Go Hawks!
Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on winning the 2013 Stanley Cup as the NHL Champions.
The Hawks scored two goals near the end of Game 6 to defeat the Boston Bruins to win the series 4-2.
Patrick Kane wins the Conn Symthe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs.
I am surprised this year to have picked the winner in the correct number of games. So, I finished with 10-5 record with 86 games played out of 92 games predicted.
Cannot wait for next season to begin in October.

So, which team do I think will it this year?
I’m definitely think the Hawks are the team to beat. They have proven it all season with someone stepping up each game. Penalty killing has been outstanding this playoff run as well as goal tending. Corey Crawford is definitely leading candidate for the Conn Symthe Trophy if the Hawks win. Better results on the power play, winning face-offs, and controlling the neutral zone during 5 on 5 will be keys for Hawks.
The Bruins playoff run this year has been the production of their top forwards. This would need to continue against the Hawks especially on the power play. Like the Hawks, the Bruins goal tending has been solid as well. The health of their defense will be a key factor in this series. It will take another team effort like they did against the Penguins to beat the Hawks this year. If the Bruins win the series, the leading Conn Symthe contenders would be Tuuka Rusk or any one of the top forwards.
I like the Hawks in 6.
Congratulations to the Chicago Blackhawks on winning the Campbell Bowl as the NHL Western Conference Champions.
Patrick Kane step up last night with a hat trick to help the Blackhawks win this series in 5 games. Since winning the President Trophy, the Hawks look like the favorite team to beat.
It’s going to be Original Six Stanley Cup final series. I am definitely looking forward to a great final series
With this result, I have an overall 9-5 record with 80 games played out of 86 games predicted.
In reviewing my Conference Semis picks, I picked 2 of 4 series correctly. So, overall it is a 8-4 record this year. A total of 24 games were played this round as I had predicted 25. Overall there has been 71 games played out of the 74 games predicted.
Here is an overview of the Conference Semis:
Predicted: Pens in 6.
Actual: Pens in 5
Predicted: Ranges in 7.
Actual: Bruins in 5
Predicted: Blackhawks in 6.
Actual: Blackhawks in 7.
Predicted: Sharks in 6.
Actual: Kings in 7.
Now for the Conference Finals. It is interesting that last four teams remaining are all former champions of the past four Stanley Cups. As stated on NHL.com, it is now a tournament of champions. So which one of the teams will earn their second cup in last 4 years or less?
In the East, it is difficult to pick a winner here. Although the Pens swept the regular season series, this is meaningless right now. Both teams have been playing well offensively in the playoffs. However, Boston has faced more adversity than the Pens to this point. I stated this fact based upon the young Bruin defense stepping up when key injuries happen to Boston veteran defensemen in the first round. This may be an edge in this series for the Bruins, but may be an area to be exploited by the Pens if the Bruin veterans do not return to the lineup. I see this series as a toss up, but will pick the Pens in 6.
The best in the league faces the defending champions. Both of these teams are going to be tired after facing a seven game series in the previous round. So, I am surprised to see this series starting on Saturday with Game 2 on Sunday. The team that starts well in the series should go to the Finals. I like the Hawks in 6.
NHL announced the finalists for the 2013 Jack Adams Award this past Friday. The Jack Adams Award is awarded annually to the NHL coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success. The winner is selected in a poll among members of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association at the end of the regular season. This year’s finalists are Bruce Boudreau of the Anaheim Ducks, Paul MacLean of the Ottawa Senators and Joel Quenneville of the Chicago Blackhawks.
The winner will be announced during the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
I definitely like Quenneville to win this year’s award. He has done an impressive job in leading the Blackhawks to best record in the league this year.
